A Warm Reiki Moment for Cooler Evenings

Glowing hands filled with golden Reiki light by candlelight on a cozy autumn evening, with sparkles and soft fairy-light bokeh

Hello dear friends,

The evenings are coming earlier now. By late afternoon the light turns golden, and before I know it, it’s time to turn on a lamp and pull a soft blanket over my knees. I love this part of autumn. It feels like the season itself is inviting us to come inside and rest.

As a Usui Holy Fire Reiki III Master Teacher, I’m often asked how I care for my own energy, especially when the days feel full. My answer is simple. I give myself a few quiet minutes of Reiki in the evening, right where I am. It doesn’t need to be long or perfect. It only needs to be kind.

Here is a gentle practice you can try tonight.

Find a cozy spot. A chair by the window, the edge of your bed, or a corner of the couch with a cup of tea nearby.

Take three slow breaths. Let your shoulders drop a little more with each one. Notice the warmth of the room around you.

Rest your hands over your heart. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest. If you practice Reiki, invite the energy to flow. If you don’t, simply let your hands rest there with love. Your attention is a gift in itself.

Move your hands to your belly. Let them stay for a few breaths. Think of one thing from today you’re ready to set down, and imagine it drifting away like a leaf on the wind.

Close with a thank you. Thank your body for carrying you through the day. Thank your angels for walking beside you, even in the small moments.

That’s all. Five minutes, maybe ten. Some nights I feel a soft warmth in my palms. Other nights I simply feel a little calmer and more like myself. Both are good.

I’ve found that these small pauses add up. When I care for my energy in little ways, I have more patience, more gentleness, and more love to share with the people around me. Autumn reminds us that slowing down isn’t falling behind. It’s part of the natural rhythm of things, just like the trees letting go of their leaves.

So tonight, when the sky turns dusky and the air cools, I hope you’ll take a few minutes just for you. Light a candle if you like. Wrap up in something soft. And let your own hands remind you that you are cared for.

With love, light, and warm autumn blessings,
Elizabeth
