Hello dear friends,
People often ask me how Reiki can be shared from a distance. It’s a lovely question. As a Usui Holy Fire Reiki III Master Teacher, I’ve seen how gentle and peaceful a distance session can feel, even when the giver and receiver are miles apart.
Today I’d like to share what receiving distance Reiki at home can be like, so it feels a little less mysterious.
Setting the Space
Before a session, you simply find a quiet, comfortable spot. Some people lie on the bed or sofa with a soft blanket. Others sit in a favorite chair. You might dim the lights, light a candle, or play gentle music. There’s nothing special you need to do, only rest and be open.
What You Might Notice
Everyone’s experience is a little different, and every session can feel different too. Some people notice:
- A gentle warmth or tingling in their hands, feet or heart
- A feeling of heaviness, like sinking softly into the bed
- Calm, slower breathing
- Soft colors or light behind closed eyes
- A sense of being wrapped in a loving presence
Some people drift into a light sleep. Others simply feel quiet and peaceful. And sometimes you may not notice much at all, which is perfectly okay. Many people still say they feel more relaxed afterward.
After the Session
When the session ends, take your time getting up. Drink a glass of water, stretch gently and notice how you feel. It can be nice to rest a little longer or write down anything you noticed. Many people describe feeling calm, soothed or lighter.
A Gentle Reminder
Reiki is a relaxing, comforting practice. It isn’t a replacement for medical care, so please always keep working with your doctor and healthcare team. I like to think of Reiki as a soft companion alongside the care you already receive.
A Little Practice to Try
If you’d like a taste of that calm today, try this:
- Sit or lie down comfortably and close your eyes.
- Place your hands gently over your heart.
- Take three slow breaths.
- Imagine a soft, warm light flowing into your heart and spreading through your whole body.
- Rest there for a few minutes and simply receive.
Distance doesn’t have to keep us from feeling connected. Love and kindness travel farther than we imagine.
Sending Love and Energy,
Elizabeth
